Three out of every ten children grind and clench their teeth. Most children experience this while under the age of 5 and the condition generally goes away by adolescence.
Some common signs to watch out for are:
1. Grinding noise during sleep
2. Thumb-sucking
3. Nail-biting
4. Gnawing on the inside of their cheek or on other objects
5. Child complains of a sore jaw or face when they awake
In most cases, treatment isn’t necessary since most kids will outgrow it. However, it is always smart to get the advice of your dentist.
